FAQs

Here is a set of FAQs that Nick Phillips from the Tuesday Night Chapter was nice enough to allow me to use. There are some slight differences but for the most part this is the same information he is using for his chapter.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q - Which version are you using?

A - We have now upgraded to Version 4.0 of the VHR 2010 mod for rFactor.

Q - Where should I install the mod.

A - It is recommended to create a separate install with VHR, rather than installing it into rfactor.

Q - Which tracks am I using?

A - The mod itself comes with all tracks required, TPSCC Tracks are not required to run our series.

Q - I have never raced these before where do I start with setups?

A - The above Information provides all you need to work on setting up your car, however as a starter package we recommend everyone grabs the VHR2010 v4.0 Default Cup Setups available here.

Q - Which is the best car?

A - They all have the same physics within the game so there is no benefit picking one make over the other.

Q - How does qualifying work?

A - You get a maximum of 2 timed laps for oval tracks, a warm up lap, 2 qualifying laps, and an in lap. On the few road courses we run, you only get 1 timed lap, a warm up lap, then your qualifying lap. Any more than that and you will be liable for a penalty of being at the back of the grid.

Q - What rule set are you running?

A - We will go with the in game rule set.

We are running 3 series, 1 without flags and 2 with Yellow Flags on. The races with yellow flags will require patience from all drivers to ensure we get good green flag runs. If individuals are identified as persistently causing incidents, they will be dealt with accordingly and quickly. We are here to have fun and if the small minority wish to drive without due consideration to others, the small minority will be removed.

Q - Will you have Live Stewards?

A - There will be a number of us using Teamspeak as well as other drivers joining us, however we will not have a Live Steward as such, as we all want to race! Although I will be racing as well, I will be testing a Penalty Procedure.

Q - Can I make a skin?

A - Yes carry on and post them at the DBF Motorsports Forum
.

Q - What are you doing about the amount of yellow flags?

A - Firstly we will be looking at regular offenders as mentioned above, secondly where in future events yellows are becoming too frequent, the admins reserve the right to clear the yellows early to encourage more green flag laps. We will still attempt to allow all cars to pit, but once done the yellow MAY be cleared early, so be aware.

Q - Give me some quick tip setup help please!!!

A - Courtesy of Jo DiPino

Some notes that you might find helpful. These are not my concepts. The come from the Oracle of setups himself, HRH.
I can tell you that they worked in N2k3 and ARCA. I expect that they will work in VHR or at least get you thinking along the correct lines.

If you are loose in: stiffen the RF spring, raise the RF psi
lower the LF spring, lower the LF psi

If you are loose out: soften RR spring, lower the RR psi,
stiffen the LR spring, raise the LR
psi

If you are tight in: soften the RF spring, lower the RF psi,
stiffen the LF spring, raise the LF psi

If you are tight out: stiffen the RR spring, raise the RR
psi, lower the LR spring, lower the
LR psi.

These suggestions are all "either or"s. Dont make big changes; just a click or two at a time. Run at least 15Ls after making the changes and see how the car reacts. Hope it helps.
